Sneak Preview: 2010 Volkswagen GTI
Volkswagen is all set to launch the 2010 Volkswagen GTI which is based on the earlier Golf model. The 2010 GTI will be priced at $23,290 for its base edition. This would offer a tough competition to MINI Cooper, Honda Civic Si and Mazda speed3.
The 2010 GTI will be available in either three door or five door hatch back editions. The three door will feature a sporty look and the five door edition would be more main stream.
2010 VW GTI Silhouette
The bodyline of the 2010 GTI is well styled with a wide honey comb Grille outlined in red and topped with a GTI Badge which makes its presence felt among others cars. The new tail lamps, side skirts and body mounted spoilers add finishing touches to its look.
The interiors are crafted with plaid upholstery seats which offer a sporty look. The flat bottomed three stroke steering wheel is dressed in leather and aluminum with red stitching which enhances the ambience. The interior cabin is well dressed with GTI badges and a large LCD screen that provides infotainment controls.
The interior cabin is equipped with fully adjustable seats and plenty of headroom. However, the interiors do not offer adequate space to seat passengers comfortably. The foldable rear seats offer ample cargo space to keep the utilities.
2010 VW GTI Features
The 2010 GTI will be equipped with 2.0 liter four cylinder turbo engine which would generate 200 hp. This new edition would be offer better comfort and ride in comparison to other editions from the Golf range. It also offers abundant torque and power keeps coming consistently. This new version is also equipped with six speed dual clutch gearbox which makes shifting between the gears quick and easy. It also offers options of automatic transmissions.
The 2010 VW GTI sports standard 17 inch alloy wheels which can be upgraded to 18 inch and all season tires which can also be upgraded to high performance summer tires.
The 2010 VW GTI is also equipped with high tech features such as six disc CD changer, standard eight-speaker AM/FM/Sirius stereo package, USB and Bluetooth inputs and touch screen controls.
2010 VW GTI Performance
The 2010 VW GTI will sprint from zero to 60 in 6.8 seconds or 6.7 seconds with the dual clutch box. It would offer a top speed of 130mph. This sporty hatchback model offers fuel economy of 24 mpg city levels and 32 mpg highway for the computer shifted model while the manual transmission would offer 21 mpg city levels and 31 mpg highway levels.
The beauty of this car is that it is equipped with firm sorted chassis which offers good controls and finesses while you drive. The Front McPherson struts and rear four link suspensions offer better handling than its competitors.
Overall it would be a true VW vehicle to the core.
